Angier,
This is quite normal.  Heating a trapped fluid results in a large pressure increase.
One day I had my hydraulics test stand near the hangar door. The sun came around and hit a pressurized gear cylinder.  By the time I noticed, the pressure gauge was on the stop at 2000+ psi.
I try to leave the plane parked with the dump valve open.  I do however leave it closed if there is a chance the plane might get moved while I am away.  You can still bleed down the pressure before walking off though.

So, while both my Light Speed Plasma III systems have been returned to the factory for issues, I've plenty of time to work on my 4zq to do list.
I was surprised today when I turned on power and saw 1380psi on the low side of my gear system. It's been about 5 days since I last powered up and got a brief burp on the gear pump. I didn't notice the pressure at that time but the system normally shuts down at around 750psi. It's been low to mid 80s
in the hangar for the last few days but a 600psi increase??
