I think I know why I had TAWS trouble. I had PFD #1 updated to latest firmware. Older MFD in #2 slot has updated firmware but I think an older GIS data base. I suspect that the newer terrain DB did not get pushed to the older unit so the system was unable to sort out two different data bases. I just replaced the older MFD with a new one that had been updated for me by the same person as the other. TAWS now works and I have to conclude the system was looking for the same DB in each unit.

One other anomaly discovered is that selection of Menu on the MFD screen does not bring up the the FAULTS menu. Again, all the other submenus are normal but faults is simply missing.
