The only thing to disagree with is whether or not it is an underhanded way to tax you.  The theft of $5 extra did actually happen with one of my aircraft and it happened to at least one other blogger on this list.  I did not pay with credit card and don't recall that being an option. I paid by bank transfer as stated below and they managed not to log the payment so insisted I pay them again.  Is it clear yet?  By the way that was not the only cost.  I paid to have my check sent by registered mail the second time so they could not pretend they didn't take that one too.

Regards,
John

I have to disagree with you John,
I've renewed four of mine with my AMEX card and have received new Registration cards with the new date.
Just don't forget to put it in your airplane in case you get ramp checked.

I get a GA Survey email link, then a letter by snail mail, on the Lancair every year.  This year I got one on one of the Cessnas, the one undergoing restoration so its flight time is zero meaning the rest of the form does not have to be filled out.
