Jerry is correct that the Control Vision EXP2 Bus is a power distribution
system that replaces the circuit breakers with faster acting Polyswitches (a
kind of solid-state resettable circuit breaker -- I'll let the EE's describe
it). The system is limited to 40 amps total. You can use the switches it
comes with, or substitute your own.
There is a feature that senses bus voltage and shuts off the alternator field
current if the bus voltage goes too high. There is a feature that shuts off
avionics power while you're cranking the engine. There is a "soft start"
feature for the landing light circuit that allegedly prolongs bulb life.
There is a backup battery feature for those of you with electronic ignitions.
It comes with an optional indicator module that shows which polyswitches have
"blown". This indicator module contains a dimmer circuit for the panel
lighting.
The drawback to this system is that you cannot "pull a circuit breaker", you
can only turn off the switch for each circuit. There's no need for the
breakers, since wiring protection is provided by the polyswitches.
