In 2009, I changed the gas struts on a clients Lancair 320.
If I recall right, they were two 40 lb. struts.
Just enough to raise and hold the canopy open.
Originally I had t ried some auto parts store models... and
they were WAY too strong!
Guys on this list referred to a manufacturer whose name I can’t
recall. The Mfg could make a strut to whatever spec you
needed.
Guiden? Giden?
Give me a chance to lookin archives on an old computer.

I support Lancair because
I want them to be there when I need ‘um. Saying that, a 45% reasonable markup
seems high. But I buy ‘um anyway.
One problem is, they call
those “gas springs” but searching for that term doesn’t return an answer. You
have to look under hardware or some such.

[LML] gas spring 360
Hey
Guys,
Let’s give Lancair
the benefit of doubt. I don’t think they are gouging, just adding a
reasonable mark up to their cost on parts. My experience (post Joe) has
been fair pricing and excellent service. (Example, Michelle has shipped
small stuff via USPS to save $$ on shipping) We need Lancair to stay
healthy and remain a parts and service source. I try to buy as much as I
can from them for that reason. In January, I replaced the Gas Springs on
our Legacy Gear.

spring 360
I ordered a replacement gas spring for my IV-P from
McM/C and it turnout to be a lookalike only. The unit came with threaded
ends and was slightly shorted than needed.
I finally ordered from Lancair and had to wait months
for the backorder.

Who has the Mcmaster-Carr part no. for the gas spring on
the 360 nose gear? Lancair is charging about 70 bucks and who knows how
old the parts are. After Paul Hershorin’s gear up incident, I have decided
to replace it. It is only a 25 dollar part. New ES kit is arriving
today from Arizona, so I will be busy for a few years. Ed Gray,
