From the PPRuNe....

Guam to Jacksonville - non stop!
Retired American Airlines captain Bill Harrelson (who's wife Sue is a r= etired United captain, btw) just landed in Jacksonville, FL where he'd = flown non stop from Guam in his little homebuilt Lancair 2-seat single engi= ne airplane, beating Max Conrad's "unbeatable" record from 19= 59 when he flew from Cairo direct to Los Angeles (in a Comanche). He spent = 40hrs aloft and without sleep, covering more than 8000 miles. Most of those= hours over the Pacific with absolutely no alternatives in case of any malf= unction.

Still a few with the adventurous spirit out there. How he fit his huge ball= s in to the cockpit the story doesn't tell. I can only tip my hat to Bi= ll Harrelson today - respect, boss man!
