I wanted to comment on the IV door received by Walter Dodson: First of all,
yes indeed, it appears that we screwed up on at least one point - inspection. As
doors arrive from our subcontractor, we inspect, at least that is the planned
procedure. Apparently in all the excitement around this first delivery coupled
with our leaving for Oshkosh, his (and three other) doors shipped out without
that inspection. It’s a new program, our mistake, it won’t happen again. In this
case we would have either replaced the window or polished the scratch out. If
there were any misalignment, we would correct it. We’ve now instituted added
procedures to make sure all inspections do occur.

Regarding hinge alignments; it is important to note that spacers which
maintain proper fslg frame / door alignment must be retained in place until the
unit is bonded into the fslg. If they are removed early, then the frame is free
to move slightly and create some misalignment.

We’ve had Walter return the door to us and until we see it again, we’re
puzzled by some of the comments. Once we can inspect it, we’ll know the root of
any problems and I’ll let you all know what we find and what we’re doing about
it. The door we displayed at Oshkosh works beautifully and is indeed
representative of the product – if any are not, we’ll make them right – before
they deliver to a customer. We all apologize for this mix up and trust it won’t
happen again.

Sincerely,
