The manual is clear that the leading edges of the flaps need to be as close as possible to touching the flap coves when retracted (page 21-11). See the note: "Clearance". That's how you seal the flap gaps and prevent leakage (and drag) during cruise. The 1/8" gap on the flap upper surface can be accomplished at wing closeout by having the flaps in place and retracted, and putting tongue depressors on top of them for spacing. That creates the right gap while the upper wing skin bond cures.

in smooth and straight. I may have to shuffle things around in the garage
and put both wings on to get a better look at the whole system in order to
figure this out.
