Just a note to Walt Dodson re: those coarse threads used by the engine
mfg's -- coarse threads are required for those fasteners that are threaded
into aluminum. Particularly the cottage cheese aluminum used in the Lyc and
Con castings. Through-bolts, e.g., those that have a nut on both ends and do
not engage threads in the aluminum, should use a fine thread so the nut can
be properly torqued - with some expectation that it'll hold the torque.
Pull up the required torque on a fine thread in aluminum and it's just as
liable to pull out as not. My point being, all coarse threads are not
necessarily bad.
