They closed the back end, turned the pipes around and opened a hole in front, Purchased an airflow performance fuel injection system and alternate air valve from them and installed the large cowling belly. This configuration requires you extend the front intakeforward to the prop spinner cowling flange to allow for the large alternate air valve and the opening is right under the prop spinner flange. I then made an alterate air filter box with a piano hinge flapper gate that is normally sealed in the down position. It flops by gravity. The alternate air valve has a forward butterfly which you control. The results are: Ram air with a 1.2 in hg boost at cruise. The MT prop pressurized the intake which is about 3/4 inches behind the prop. The alternate air is filtered for ground running and takes warm air from inside the cowling. By the way, this combination was considered a certified engine because I did not modify the reciprocating parts in the rebuilt engine and the engine prop combination was certified. Only 25 hours was required to fly off the restrictions. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
