I believe Nick said he climbed to 14,000 feet and set cruise power of 28"/2300 rpm. 28"/2300 should easily pressurize the cabin to 5.5 psi.

Your power setting was likely too low at 28 Inches to fully pressurize the cabin. 2300 rpm is also a very low number for climb. If you haven't already, I would recommend getting a good Lancair instructor to assist in your training.
