Nope, they were not high compression pistons. The 400hp was done @ 2800RPM/42 MAP/FF over 45gph (don't really remember this number, just that it was a lot.

I never ran the engine this high, I think never higher as 37. After all the issues that happened with the engine I had it checked out and set it back to standard manifold max @ 38.5, RPM max 2700, FF=42.

Now I do not have this plane anymore (Velocity), but I made sure the engine was good when I sold it. I do not want to get someone in problems because of this engine.

Ronald,
If your Performance engine has 8.5:1 compression pistons which it must if you are saying you have 400HP, then I would caution against running 38.5" MP at takeoff, and running at 29" where you say you are running will be more equivalent to a stantard TSIO550 running 32" MP.   If you do run 38.5" MP on takeoff, then you will need much more fuel flow than the  42.x gph TCM recommondations and should be closer to 50gph.   (if you indeed have the higher compression pistons).  A standard TSIO550 has 7.5:1 pistons.

We do not know the cause, it is already bad enough that it did on a so
called rebuilt engine with superior parts.......yeah right (my opinion)

When I finally had someone on the phone, he told me that the bolts must
have had a gas bubble in it.....sure...and micky mouse lives in Orlando LOL

You can see I am really upset with them, so I better shut my mouth, but if someone is asking I will talk and telling them my opinion.

If you already purchased an engine from them, go to a real shop and let
them take the engine apart LOL The 4p or the legacy are no planes to have
a failing engine on. (unless you are carrying a parachute LOL)
