Subject: stuck adjustable rudder pedals Legacy

I haven't been able to adjust the pedals since I bought the Legacy a few years ago.  I'm now interested in unsticking them if possible.  The runners are clean and I've lubricated everything I can.   The pull wire moves about 1/16 inch and I can't tell if the locking pin is stuck or if the slide is stuck on the rails.  I've used a rubber mallet and pulled using a rope with zero movement.    Before I make things worse, is there a procedure to remove/inspect/fix?  I could unbolt from the floor and firewall and remove the cables to pull the unit out (I think) but I'm hesitant since I want to fly on Memorial Day and concerned about too much disassembly.  Thanks.
