I bought several of the inexpensive black eye ball lights from spruce that swivel in a plastic mounting plate with 3 screws. I think they run around $15 each. I pushed the ball out of the mount and ground one side of the black plastic ball down flat and buried them in the underside of the dust cover. I connected them to a dimmer and they work as well as any factory ship. I have 2 that are directed to the lap of each occupant that are white lights connected to a seperate dimmer and use these for map lights.

I love the set up...
Light, relatively cheap and barely noticeable.

John, I put mine on the front of the overhead (about 2" forward of where yours is).
At the time all I could find that I liked were these:

but if I had it to do over again I would probably make my own using rebel 10mm squares with a wide angle 10mm lens from here: www.luxeonstar.com They will sell you everything you need.
