Thought you might be amused by this. Saturday morning I was approaching Billings from the north. On approach frequency there was a twin requesting pattern work for simulated single engine, a student doing instrument approaches and a commercial flight coming in from the south. Upon switching to tower frequency I get the following.
"Experimental 2CL make right base to 28L at mid field between the tower and the air carrier ramp. Pass east of the tower. Do not descend below 4,500 feet until passing over 28R. Cleared to land 28L."
Take a look at the attached airport diagram. It is apparent the controller was unfamiliar with the performance specifications a Lancair IV.
