I had the same friendly handling at Chicago O’Hare a few years ago. They had a 737 and me headed straight at each other, then turned him right and me left for landing on parallel runways. The progressive to the GA parking was interesting but they were patient. That evening when I called for clearance they asked “Ready to go now?” and then cleared me from parking right onto the runway for immediate take-off.

Just out of curiosity, how much were the landing fees? I would like to confront my airport here in Italy with reasonable fees.

Not many pistons seem to make their way into Atlanta Hartsfield, but a meeting with Flight Safety (located about 1/4 mile away from the FBO there) prompted me to take the plunge.
The landing fees were ridiculously low, so it was a no brainer.
Here's a video of the arrival for the visual app 26R into ATL in a little ol' Lancair 360: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh9o1S5V9Qc
I talked a little more than I probably should've, but I suspected they might not be too familiar with a LNC2, especially at ATL, so I wanted to let them know that I could do what they needed, speed-wide (ie, this was not a 172...although the probably got the idea by seeing my ground speed in the descent to begin with, now that I think about it).
In any case, I apologize for the relatively low video quality, but at least the comms came through pretty clear.
Notice how many people the center controller calls back before he's able to issue my IFR clearance. It actually took 3 full minutes for him to get back to me...and he wasn't even breaking a sweat. Those guys are pretty incredible...it's clear that they handle crazy amounts of traffic, every day of the week.
