The cross tube between the two front engine mount =20 rings with a diagonal tube is really the most solid way to construct the fr= ont=20 of the mount, but a straight tube won't work on the TSIO. I know at least= =20 one guy who had a curved or trapezoidal cross brace that worked with the = =20 TSIO. =20 The new version of the ES mount has flat plates on the top, forward =20 diagonal, and forward surface, bridging between the left and right bearing = block =20 plates. I don't think you can do that with the retractable nose gear =20 mechanism. =20 When I dealt with my cracked mount, I talked to Lancair and they =20 recommended removing the mount and sending it back to them to be modified w= ith the=20 gussets and flat plates. The advantage is it would be done with the mount= =20 in the jig so no distortion will develop.
