The 3G is cell data and gps but does not have to be " on". Do you have the iPad 3GS version, the wi-fi only version doesn't have = gps. Turning wifi off has no bearing, works fine where there is no cell = coverage. I don't have an aux GPS and am "stand alone". Try: =20 Go to settings, general, location services =3D on, cell data =3D off, = and, airplane mode =3D off. I can fly the approach on Wingsx geo ref plates and it follows along, = with a near match to my Garmin 430W, in both position and speed. The = iPad is not waas GPS but sure knows where it is. The geo referenced = plates cannot be used with any accuracy to fly the approach as the = pipper a generic twin engine airliner is scaled about 2-3times longer = than a 6,000 ft runway on the approach plate. But it is a very good = tool for situational awareness.=20 Bob Mitchell Sent from my iPad On Nov 18, 2010, at 6:52 PM, H & J Johnson = wrote: > Bob have you tried the GPS functionality w/ the 3G sim card removed = and being disconnected to wi-fi or other 'GPS' devices?
