John,
I built the snubbers as
instructed, but did not install them in my IV-P. In 450+ hours to date, I have
not had any problem with the gear doors vibrating. I am also operating the
aircraft with only one of the two springs on the back of each door.

Marv et al,
My Lancair is #FB 315 if memory serves. I purchased it
in 1996. It came with the system you refer to included. We called
it a gear door snubber. I installed it and thought it worked well in all
gear retract tests.
This airplane is not flying but will do so this
summer. I placed it in the hands of a build assist shop in Redmond, OR
year before last and they reworked the slider as well as a few other things on
the gear doors. The original slider used a polyethylene sheet that was
too skinny, so this had to be changed. Without my input they removed the
snubber system. When I questioned them they told me Lancair no longer
recommended it.
Recently I’ve heard of reports of doors vibrating in
certain flight regimes and wondered if the snubbers might be coming back in
fashion. Would appreciate comments on that rumor.
