Marv et al,

My Lancair is #FB 315 if memory serves.  I= purchased it in 1996.  It came with the system you refer to included.  We cal= led it a gear door snubber.  I installed it and thought it worked well in= all gear retract tests.

This airplane is not flying but will do so this summer.  I placed it in the hands of a build assist shop in Redmond,= OR year before last and they reworked the slider as well as a few other thing= s on the gear doors.  The original slider used a polyethylene sheet that= was too skinny, so this had to be changed.  Without my input they removed the snubber system.  When I questioned them they told me Lancair no longe= r recommended it.

Recently I=E2=80=99ve heard of reports of doors= vibrating in certain flight regimes and wondered if the snubbers might be coming back= in fashion.  Would appreciate comments on that rumor.
