They do charge while traveling...the attached is the expense sharing with
someone else in the area. So its only half the expenses.

The rate is probably less than $100 per hour and that seems reasonable.
Unfortunately there aren't inspectors located all over the country, and
SOMEONE has to pay for travel time. I don't know any businesses that can
afford to pay their employees while they are sitting in a car or an airplane
travelling to a site and not pass that cost along to a customer. It's
probably why most folks can't afford for their doctor to make a house
call... unwillingness to pay the $400 an hour while they sit in traffic.

I just received a quote from Tim Wilson at Lancair for the aircraft
inspections required by AIG prior to renewing my insurance policy for the
Lancair IV. $2300 for the inspection that should take 1 and 1/2 days.
This does not qualify as a conditional inspection. Any travel expenses are
additional.
Does $191 hour shop rate seem excessive?
They can not do my inspection until May, after my present policy expires.
