I discovered on a recent flight that there is NO indication of fuel not being tranferred to the header tank other then the header tank fuel guage not indicating replenishing (in the event of a vent becoming blocked). The transfer light continues to illuminate and the ammeter will draw current even though no fuel is actually being transferred. Thus, if you were transferring from both tanks simultaneously this might not be apparent until you had drained the only "functioning" wing tank. I am still uncertain as to why the flight manual advises transfer pumps OFF for take off and landing-perhaps someone can comment... ? Is this to maintain a stable C of G ? Gerard
