After I registered my kit with the FAA, I received a notice from my = state (Maryland) of tax owed on the plane - 5% x $200,000 (est. value) = =3D $10,000. I was able to dodge it for a while since the kit was not = finished and was located in Oregon. Eventually they caught up with me = and I had to pay. Since your plane is already registered, you may be able to avoid having = to pay tax on it.
