Unless Joe and Tim plan on a year
round touring schedule to inspect airplanes, that means all Lancairs fly to
Redmond for inspections and as I understand it, Joe isn't there a lot of
the time. That's ridiculous. It would place an onererous burden on
these two which would certainly take them away from their jobs a great deal of
the time.
If AIG insists upon implementing
this policy, I don't see why any DAR can't be allowed to do the inspections, as
they're allowed to sign off the planes as safe for flight in the first
place. It would surely involve paying them to do it, but it would be
cheaper than ferrying the planes to Redmond to get it done. What I don't
get is the fact that I have yet to hear of a single crash that was caused by an
airframe related failure. I think AIG is barking up the wrong tree here
and needs to focus 100% of their concern on the training side.
I hope Joe and Tim have something to say on this matter, as this
added burden on owners would (or will) certainly put a large
dent in Lancair's future kit sales.
