Bob,

I have a 1/4" vent in my header (per the plans).  It allows fuel flows in
excess of 20 GPH.  I suppose it's possible to think the total volume of air
is not entirely through the vent tube.  The balance could of course be
coming from the wing tanks through the transfer pumps.  I don't think this
happens because there is no evidence of fuel flow or bubbles in the sight
tubes.  So there!  I on board with Ian on this one.  We've thought about it
and his ruling remains.

Any hole in your airplane should be as small as possible in order to get
it's job done.
