I think Bill Wade and Earl Schroeder hit the nail on the head about the lack of postings.
As you can see by this email address I also have a group of Cessnas (spam cans as those who lack respect will call them) and am very happy with most of them.
I am also a partner in 39WG, a super ES, but doing little except providing the cash to complete it.
I received a tax bill from the county for an airplane that was barely a group of parts because the builder (now my airplane partner) had posted that he expected to complete it in 2005. A visit to the county tax assessor with the required form in hand that us Californians have to fill out as of Jan. 1 each year took care of that.
It is nearing completion and I've been planning to post pictures to the LML detailing the
progress but waiting closer to completion just in case someone who I'd rather not know about it progress reads my posting.
I don't mind paying taxes on my airplanes, lord knows I pay enough as is, but I don't like paying taxes on a hangar full of parts because someday it will be an airplane.
The avionics panel from Aerotronics turned out beautifully and pretty much on time and on budget as quoted. Of course due to the long time period between quote and fabrication, prices did go up, significantly in some cases. OTH, the price for the 430W and SL30 were still less than the quote I got from another vendor I have used a lot for other airplanes in my fleet.
I am sorry to say that I can't say good things about the firewall forward baffling kit for the IO550 for our ES. Every major piece had to be modified and in some cases literally built from scratch because the part
from Lancair was so wrong in shape and size. We have had the baffling powder coated and Bill will install it when he gets back from China. Some builders still have to work for a living. I will post pictures of the engine compartment and the avionics panel after the engine is wired up. Once it is completed and the 25 hours flown off, it will be for sale. Too expensive an airplane for my budget.
I am no expert but I do have 47 years experience building electronics systems and have flown some of them to many different countries while working for NASA for 30 years. I also rebuilt radio rooms while working for the Navy including destroyers, submarines, a guided missle cruiser and an LST (landing craft) converted to an ARL (cable layer). Most of my work has gotten me so many outstanding workmanship awards that I can't even tell you how many. Therefore, I must know a little about what I am doing
but still don't post due to my first experience with LML. I have found there is a lot less flaming on the CFO list due to the administrator's filtering but I still respect Marv for how he has handled LML. Cheers Marv. Duane back into lurker mode.
