Ron,

I was planning on fitting the earlier version of this, but gave up for lack of panel space among other things.  The earlier version was called Rite Angle if I remeber correctly, and came with the dash mounted mechanical gauge, which was large and awkward to fit.

Be aware that it does not strictly measure AOA at all speeds.  It compares the pressures from two inlet ports, one on top and the other on the bottom of a probe which faces forward at an angle (forward sweep).  There is no pitot input, presumably to get around Jim Frantz's patent.  The "AOA" that it shows is repeatable at any given speed, but will vary when speed varies, as there is no correction for pitot pressure.

If I were buying one, I would spring for the LED version.  The mechanical gauge is fairly agricultural in appearance.  I hope this helps.

The new AOA system I noticed at OSH was Alpha Systems.   www.alphasystemsaoa.com    I've never seen it actually work, but it just looked interesting.  Anyone else have any more info or ideas about this one?  I believe this company had an LRI system or indicator at least in the past, but they have a new product.
The brochure quotes NTSB records as of 2001 that 28% of all general aviation type-certificated airplanes, 5222 accidents were caused by unintentional stalls.  Experimental aircraft were 318 of 701 fatal accidents (45%) were caused by unintentional stalls.
Again, I know nothing of this product, I have not verified the claims or numbers, I'm just passing on information that appears to be a good option.  The LED's were bright and large.   The electronic version is $895, and the mechanical version is $550.

Ron,
What is the name of the new AOA you saw at Oshkosh? I'd love to put one in my
360, but doing the installation on a flying airplane is a lot more work. I'd
like to check out the installation of the new one you saw.
Thanks,
