i have the leading edge vertical fin fairing on my propjet designed and
bought from mike custard. can't comment on flying characteristics as
never flew without it but i think it makes the plane look more symmetric
particularly with the long snout of the propjet. it also stiffens up
the smallest area of the fuselage which is proabably the weakest area
also. when i bought my strakes from mike custard he told me that the
strakes make a much bigger difference than the vertical fin enlargement
(actually i think his words were that i wasted my money on the vert
fairing and apologized because he sold it to me!) but i think it looks
better and hopefully flies better because of it too. brian alley who is
the builder could give insight as to installation etc if needed.

Gary - Do you have the optional fairing Lancair offered for the leading
edge
of the vertical stabilizer? I seem to remember that Kirk H. had added
one
to his ES. What was it supposed to do? Was it only for the ES or
also for
the IVs? Has anybody got any input as to the effectiveness of that
fairing
and how it effects or compliments the effect of the ventral strakes?
