Matt,
I think it's interesting that you have teamed up with guys that want an RV-10. Nothing against it by any means, they are just such different ships for different missions. Seems to me that they should build an RV-10 and you should do your Legacy, especially since you have already gone through the slow build process with a 320 kit. My goodness, you will no doubt find yourself giggling at the advances in the kit plane technology and the luxory of a fastbuild. I have a fair deal of knowledge of the Lancair kits and their current company structure since I have been independantly helping people with their Lancair IV-P kits since 1999. I have never assisted in a Legacy but I know who designed it and what kind of aircraft it is. You asked if it is as good as the 320. First of all, you need to understand they are only alike at first glance and after that you will stop comparing the two to each other. The Legacy is the most elegant, well tuned and all around best flying aircraft Lancair has developed. The Evolution is too new to really be compared, but certainly holds promise of exceeding the overall satisfaction level of even Legacy owners. Now back to the two seaters and company support. If they have ever made a composite aircraft kit that needs less technical support, the Legacy is it. This is a good thing since it may be difficult to get the kind of 'one on one' you had throughout the 320 build. Lancair has very talented people on the phones like Ross and Justin but they are kept busy and Vern isn't there anymore for your expert parts needs. There are good people working that department too but if you worked with Vern much you will certainly miss him. The Legacy kit is fantastic and I would love to help with one given the opportunity. Talking to pilots that know the aircraft well consistently drives home what an amazing machine it really is. As for your friends, I share in their interest of the RV-10 and have started construction of my own at home in my garage. This is in no way a reflection of my intimate knowledge of Lancairs. It's simply expanding my knowledge of other types of aircraft and in a direction I can personally afford. Besides, it suits my flying ability and mission since I have a family to show the country to.
I hope this has been helpful and if you have any other details you wish to discuss give me a call.

I am also interested in honest opinions about Lancair's company support, advice, lead-times, etc from the new Lancair.  Mostly when I built my 320, I dealt with Lance, Linda, Don Goetz, and Vern.  I know a lot has changed since then and consider the company support to be a vital element if I am planning on buying a new kit.

My flight testing has gone excellent and is mostly complete.  I will give you an update on that later.

I still need to paint and do an interior but that will be fall/winter, however, I have begun my shopping for my next project.

As Paul Poberezny always said, "garages are for airplanes, not cars," I have been thinking of what I want to fill my garage next.  Among many ideas is a Lancair Legacy RG.  I am wondering if anyone built a 320/360 AND a Legacy and can give me their builder's opinion on costs, improvements on build time, airframe structure, etc., and most of all, would you do it again?  Do the Legacy's fly as good as the 320's?

I know a lot has changed over the last 13 years since I started my 320 so I'm just looking for some opinions on what you guys did, what you liked and what you would or wouldn't do next time.   I also think the Legacy would be a breeze compared to my slow build 320 where I built every rib (and enjoyed every minute of it).  It seems most of it is done when you get it.

My brothers and I are planning on teaming up for this one.  They are pushing for the RV-10A but I am leaning towards the Lancair Legacy.
