The most dangerous time for this to occur is during refueling shortly after flying where there is a large static buildup in the airframe. Lancair says they don't bother and have never had a problem or even heard of a problem with static discharges. I'm about to close my wings, but before doing so I'm still debating whether or not to do the bonding . The tech counselor suggested I run a wire from the fuel filler cap to the vent line that exits the BL-134 rib, then on the exterior of the rib attach another wire to the vent and connect this to the ground wire for the nav/strobe lights. Has anyone else done this? If so, how did you attach the wire to the fuel filler neck? Marv - a search of the archives resulted in only one other question regarding electrical bonding. You referred the writer to speedbrakes.com, telling him there was a lot of information on electrical bonding on that site. When I try to access it I'm told I need a password, yet it gives no indication how to obtain one. I'd really like to settle this issue one way or the other so I can get on with closing the wings. Any help from all the electrical experts will certainly be appreciated.
