My 235's original air box was not fireproof and swallowed considerable dirt, open or closed. Took a clue from Van's A/C FAB 320 induction air kit, built it out of aluminum, with a alt. air door, carb heat, and a KN 3260 air filter. No loss of MP at any altitude. All the carb air goes thru the filter a la Mooney & the RV Lines. Quite a bit of dirt washed out of the filter each year, and I don"t operate out of grass or dirt rwys..
