There has been sort of a continuing conversation about the nose gear gas
spring over the last year or two -- what the replacements are, and whether
one or dual is better.

I think I saw a recent submittal that mentioned the MotorMite 95051 as a
substitute. I THINK that is the one I tried about a year ago. After about 3
hours, working blind at the end of my reach, I got it installed.  When I
retracted the nose gear by hand, the barrel of the gas strut hit the head
of the hinge bolt in the GM26.

The diameter of the original is .7" and the MotorMite 95051 is 1".

Be careful out there -- make sure you retract by hand and make sure there
are no conflicts.

I don't know how those builders who are installing dual gas springs are
clearing the "thread end" of the AN4 hinge bolt, or the "thread end"
hydraulic cylinder attachment bolt. My gas spring doesn't come close to
clearing if I don't turn the bolts in the right direction.
