An alternative to
cracking the line and getting hyd fluid out is to carry your trusty metal
jumper. A screwdriver for example could be used to short across the
pressure switch. That momemtary short will twitch the spool valve enough
to get things going again. I prefer the dry sparking approach over the
red goo. I’ve heard it can even be done airborne. There are those
who would go so far as to install a secret switch behind the panel that would
do the same thing (bypass the pressure switch). To each his
own.

Subject: RE: [LML] Re: Landing Gear pump
inop
Hello all,
Just wanted to say thanks for all
the input into my gear pump problem. I received 4 comments about the
pressure probably being above the limit set on the up-limit switch (1200lbs),
preventing my pump from turning on and raising the gear. I went to the
airport on Friday to crack one of the lines open to relieve excess
pressure. But before I did this, I turned my master on and the pump
burped, indicating the pressure had relieved
itself.
Thanks for all the help.
I'll carry a set of wrenches and a rag in case this happens again. It
only happened once in 2 years of flying. >From now on, I'll verify
that the pump runs during my preflight. And after I shut down, I'll
open- then close the dump valve to relieve static
pressure.
Thanks for all the help.
Marv, thanks for running this service for us. The assistance is
invaluable.

Gear pump inop
Hmm. I
hope I can make it to Sun N Fun! I went out for a short hop last night,
and my gear didn't come up. Back on the ground, I recognized that the
pump won't run in either direction. With the dump valve open, it should
run continuously, but it doesn't.
I don't think this will be
a big problem, but I sure don't have much time over the next week to figure
this out. I'm posting this with hopes someone on the list can help point
me in the right direction, and save me lots of time troubleshooting. I
suppose the problem must be in the switch, power supply, or continuity through
either of my two circuit breakers. Please respond directly to my email
address.
Thanks for any
suggestions...
