Makes me wonder if you have grown tired of building :-) But thank you for carrying the torch forward. It is a very valuable resource for any Lancair builder or owner. I would like to throw in my comments regarding fuel transfer, particularly the problems with pumping fuel overboard. I too share the same frustration. It is simply workload you can eliminate completely either by building your own circuitry for a automatic fuel transfer system or do as lazy I did Hate to reinvent the wheel !). The product was written up in LNN # 16 page 188. It is racksize 1.3x6.25 and holds the following options: 3 graphic fuel gauges, Manual/auto fuel transfer control and the gear switch and 4 lights 3 gear down & hydraulic pump on). It utilizes Skysports fuel probes. Price w/ 3 probes is around $ 525. Problem eliminated forever !!! Product is built by Composite Design, FL, Wayne Lanza, 561-664-8953. A very sweet unit and worth the cost considering the constant frustration involved. I too fell prey to a weak gas strut. I purchased a new through Lancair ( $ 35 ) Pressure is 100 lb +. According to Vern these units have higher pressures than the older models. After the new strut was installed, it failed to extend. If it wasn't from earlier write-ups in LNN, I would still be in the hanger scratching my behind. Turns out that the long steel spacer in front of GM14 was originally cut a hair too short. After spreading the motor mount and inserting a thin washer, the gear came down as fast as a Lancair. So a slightly longer spacer is now in place replacing the old and the washer.
