I put the large Bob Archer dipole in my vertical stab.
I have the carbon fiber MKII horizontal (by the way, I
agree with Rob Wolf. I would put this horizontal in).
The antenna works fine. The only thing I notice is
that the field strength has a minimum directly behind
the aircraft. Chris Zavatson and I measured the field
pattern about 6 years ago. If the station is directly
behind me, I may miss the call unless I pull the
squelch. It don't notice this problem very often
because the minimum occurs over a very small angle.
I'm not sure if others have noticed the same thing, or
if it is just my installation.
