The engine can handle quite a lot of water. The water merely displaces some of your fuel/air mixture causing an irrelevant reduction in power.
Regarding intakes, I'm on the road so can't photo. I do however strongly encourage a sound connection from cowl entry into the carb or servo. I may be the exception however as I've seen many installations that allow leakage. The question here is lost ram rise versus ease of cowl removal. I built a little access panel so I could clamp both ends of my ram air hose. It's of low stakes to many.
