To all,
Sometimes, an idea is so crazy that it might
actually have some merit. I'm throwing one out for you guys to chew
on.
Marv and I are pressure testing my L-IV-P. Our
first step was to hook a shop vac up backwards and blow it into the cabin. We
buttoned things up, but due to the need to recheck a few things, we duct taped
some long seams rather than RTVing them. It worked quite well, with the incense
smoke (the plane smells good!) streaming out through the holes we
missed.
Now, it's not possible to tape everything. There
are some places that only RTV works. But it seems that there are a fair number
where a tape product such as duct tape might work long term. Possible problems?
Maybe it will spring leaks? Maybe a different tape
would be better.
Maybe it will leave adhesive that has to be cleaned
off when you pull it up three years down to do maintenance? Sure, but RTV is a
bitch to clean off, and GooGone works well on tape residue.
Who knows? Does anyone really know?
Comments?
