Matt Reeves,

I see two possible problems with carb air, 1. Heavy overpriming on start-up where pulling the gas or fire thru the carb is not enough, a couple of small  holes at the back of the box would help. Also, early kits had a  fiberglass or epoxy air box which would burn with a direct flame. Made mine from Aluminum with 2
1/8" drain holes in the bottom back corners.   2.  Depending upon how you filter the incoming carb air, (or not,) if so be aware that a filter can plug with water and freeze at altitude, it depends upon your configueration , just something to consider Don Skeele   235/320
