If you intend to fly formation, then you may want to
avoid a vernier throttle. The constant throttle adjustments
needed to fly relative to another airplane won't work well
with a vernier.

Another possibility is to defeat the vernier for formation
flights by removing the ball bearing from the vernier clamp
thingy inside the knob.
