The reason it's "mysterious" is that it went away on its own.  Mud in the vent would likely stay until you cleaned it out.  I still contend that turning on the boost pump wouldn't solve a clogged vent problem.  Tim Ong told me that the boost pump isn't that good at pulling fuel.  That's why we mount it as low as possible.
