If you've been in a state of blissful ignorance
about this AD as I was, you might be in for the bucket of cold water as I
got.

Basically, older constant speed Hartzel hubs must
be replaced within 50 hrs or at least inspected (via eddy current) every year or
100 hrs thereafter. My prop shop wants $700 for the inspection and
reseal. The new hub is $3800 or so. If you've been good and had the
prop overhauled regularly as Hartzel recommends, you get 50% off the new hub or
40% off a whole new prop.
Maybe worse - the more popular hubs are backordered
2 to 3 months.
I get piles of AD's that aren't important but not
this one.
