Found at last, in my disorganized library, the pictures showing the origin of lift as a wing begins to move.  Note that in some cases the camera is stationary, and in others it is moving with the wing.  From Aerodynamics by the master, Theodore von Karman, 1954, reprinted 1963.  (The book is stamped “$2.65” inside the front cover!)  Note in particular the last paragraph.
