I took the HPAT ground class and did not walk out with a check list for my plane. I did some flight training in the Lancair's 199L and found the check list had a lot of room for improvement for my taste. I plan to do the flight training portion in my plane with Pete once it is done. From my point of view, we are building experimental planes, customized within a narrow band to our individual ideas of what will be best for our style. The layout of the Panel and the Grip buttons are determined by what one uses on a regular basis and ease of use. Lancair's checklist template, and the flight training I did in a Legacy and the LML, all have helped me greatly in laying out my panel. I take all relevant information into account, LML, Joe, B, Pete and so on. I think you are underestimating the knowledge and the decades of experience of the many people that read and post to the LML.
