You might also try 3M #483 polyethylene tape available in widths to 1". The 36' roll is around $7 but it remains pliable even when cold, uses a rubber adhesive (no debris) and will stretch up to 300% if needed.

    What I've found that works about as well as any of the tapes made specifically for airplanes is Scotch electrical tape.  Scotch has several different types, but the good stuff (33+, I think) comes in many colors, including white.  It doesn't last forever, either, but it doesn't leave goo on the wing, and takes only a few minutes to replace.  For about $5 a roll, it's hard to beat.
