Dan -
I used a propane blower with a 100 lb. tank during the building of
my Lancair here in Virginia. Each tank would run the blower about 50 hours
and fortunately there is a propane service company nearby. 100 lb. propane
tanks are available at Home Depot for $ 70. each and a fill of propane is
about $ 35. so having two or three is a minor expense.
The blower produced a lot of heat, but only locally. No way would it
heat a large, drafty hangar. In order to continue building through the
winter in most climates, you will have to construct a "tent" using 2 x 4's
and plastic sheet, which are both relatively inexpensive. A 10' x 100' roll
of 4 mil plastic is $ 14. at Lowes or Home Depot. And, yes, be careful with
the heat and fire around the plastic sheet.
