 Way to go Bill!

Those are truly impressive numbers. I really like the "clean and light"
approach. It pays off, I believe, much better returns than the "space shuttle"
panel and tons of gimmicks that we've all seen in many Lancairs. "Clean and
light" adds to dependability and maintainability also. I believe I see a 2,000
hour card on your prop. Congratulations!

I find that we can get much better numbers than those published in the
Lycoming manual. We often cruise our carbureted O-320 (lasar ignition) in the
middle teens LOP. Here are our figures from one flight.

 Altitude 14,000    MP 17.6    RPM 2100     TAS 164 knots = 189 mph

Hour 1 burn:  6.8 (including taxi, t.o. and climb)
 Hour 2 burn: 4.8
 Hour 3 burn: 4.9
 Hour 4 burn: 4.6

Average cruise economy: 34.4 nautical mpg   39.6 statute mpg
