Don't shoot the
messenger.... However over the top his recounting of bad behavior
pilots at OSH was, the message of pilots not taking the time or caring enough to
educate and behave themselves is a problem. It only takes one or two bad
ones to ruin everyone's day. As far as flying the Warbird route because
'we might think it the right thing to do in a high performance plane', that
seems to make sense, but if we follow that to it's logical conclusion, then
there's no point in having ANY rules...everybody can just do what you think
needs to be done because they've assessed it and determine what is best.
When rules and procedures are ignored, anarchy fills the
vacuum.
Lest anyone
misunderstand, I am not a law-n-order type of person, but for an operation as
big and complex as OSH, it has to be done by the book. Freelancing will
get people killed. If we don't like the system, change it or don't
go.

That is the impression I got. I actually wrote
the author and called his sh*t. To his credit he responded to me, and actually
took my comments into consideration. I said something to the effect of his
tirade against other pilots that make mistakes should not condemn them and be
exclusive. We should invite people into the fold and provide some education to
them if they need it. We should not be throwing a tizzy fit and calling
names.
It's not Oshkosh, it's definately this one guy.
I recommend OSH at least once; you might really like it!
