Well I got good news and bad news to share. The good news is that after a long!!!!! gestation my avionics panel from LancairAvionics is ready to be shipped. The bad news is that the WX500BF GOODRICH stormscope has, according to Steve Gardner from LancairAvionics, never been successfully installed in a carbon fiber experimental airplane and they recommended I not install the unit.  The Certified Columbia 400 was apparently difficult enough for L-3 to design and they were successful because the other avionics were positioned so as not to interfere with the stormscope since no two experimentals are alike, L-3 cannot predict that what worked in the eglass Columbia 400 will work in a carbon fiber experimental. Are there any experimental builders out there who can share their thoughts on  a strike finder in the Lancairs? Has anyone considered alternatives (other than satellite information from WSI/WXworks)  such as radar?

Thanks:
