I see this issue frequently with the Slick Mags after about 4-500 hours.  I had my mags rebuilt and the problem was gone for about 100 hours and is now back.  I am contemplating going to Bendix mags to see if that won’t cure the problem.  Your thoughts would be appreciated.  This always occurs LOP, never on the full fuel climb.

You don't tell us how far LOP 1590dF put him, but I'm guessing that he simply was so far LOP that as soon as the rain messed up the F:A ratios, he had a cylinder or two not fire on one stroke.  The result was a light off of the fuel in the hot exhaust.  (it wasn't a backfire, it was an afterfire.)

Anyone had experience with this?
Pilot flying our IVP (TSIO550E3B with 4 blade MT) and reports:
"Had backfires(?) couple of nights back. Was running lean of peak with
temps 1590 at FL150, around -15C, light rain,  29Hg 2500rpm .
Happened twice so went rich of peak for remainder of flight with no
problems. Any reason come to mind?"
Be grateful for any thoughts
