I have been in the prop zone for a little while
now in regards to Unleashed, my Lancair 360. I now have the Superior XP-400 on
the airplane. We're supposed to run a MT racing prop... My experience with MT so
far has been poor. As the pilot of the airplane and the one's whose butt is in
the seat, I found their rep's attitude and demeanor poor at best. Then I come to
find out that their prop begain to delaminate at high rpm - where we are going
to run.
On the other hand, Hartzell came to me and wanted
to sponsor me. They gave me a new prop and always treated me with respect and
courtesy. I trust in and believe their product and their attitude towards
safety.
A few final thoughts: apples to apples, and MT
prop has never gone faster than a Hartzell at Reno. I also got answers and data
from Hartzell when I asked, while the MT rep refused to give me any data on
their race prop they were building for
me. Having said that, I think it would be fair to say
that there are some / a lot of people that have had very good experiences with
MT and like their propeller choice.
